How To Dress- 6 Fundamental Steps To Consider When Dressing Up

This is laughable, isn’t it? Because a lot of us don’t really care about what we are wearing and where we are wearing them to, talk more of how to dress. Well there is more to dressing than just putting cloths on our body. While some of us may be the fashion type others are not. So that’s why I decided to just give us the fundamentals on how to dress. Take for instance when you get an invitation and it says cocktail attire, what kind of dress do you wear? A gentleman goes for a black suit and a lady a black gown. Trust me you don’t want to dress casual to such a party. To know what kind of dress to put on for different events read- HOWTO DRESS FOR DIFFERENT EVENTS
Let’s take a look at the fundamentals of dressing.

Get all your clothes and decide which one you want and don’t want anymore. Take a long look at all your clothes there some clothes you haven’t wore for over a year and some that doesn’t fit anymore, you can either donate, sell or give them out. Don’t worry you won’t miss those clothes; I know you might be thinking “I could need this one day!”

For crying out loud it’s been there for over a year. Having a wardrobe full of clothes you don’t need any more doesn’t make you classy buts makes you seem confused. Always keep your wardrobe neat, organize and in sections that way it makes it easier for you to choose your clothes when going out.

Go for clothes that fit your body type and dress for it. You don’t want to find yourself wearing an over sized dress, do you? It does not mean you are too fat, too thin, too tall or too short. What it means is that when you going on shopping, keep your body type in mind. Don’t go for anything that won’t make you look good or fit you. You can also ask someone to go shopping with you; it’s always good to have an outsider’s perspective.

Always use your mirror when stepping out of the house it’s very important. You need to pay attention to certain details when dressing up and when you done dressing. This won’t be a problem for the ladies because they are always with their mirrors, ladies love their mirrors. But for the guys, it’s not our thing. We feel we don’t need a mirror to dress up but we do. I don’t step out without taking a good look at myself. Its helps you examine yourself better in case your forgetting something. I remember sometimes in a hurry I forget to use my belt, brush my hair and even to button my shirts properly but once I look in the mirror I see all those errors. So mirrors are important.

Know what works for you. Being fashionable does not mean you have to be in accordance to a specific look. It means finding what makes you comfortable and going with it. Some of us are either the flashy type, simple type or the crazy type. So when choosing your wardrobes pick what works for you. Don’t go out over dress when you know it won’t make you feel comfortable. Know yourself, know your dress!

When it comes to dressing, we think we don’t need help but we do. You don’t want to go out looking like someone who has been living under a rock for almost a decade. Some of us don’t really care about what we wear or how we wear them but that doesn’t mean you can’t ask for help. The fact that someone doesn’t care about what they wear doesn’t mean they don’t care about their dressing, probably they don’t know how to go about it. If you have someone who knows more about dressing than you do then ask for help, it’s no big deal.

My dad is a good example of this, he loves to look good but doesn’t know much about dressing but my mom on the other hand is an expert on dressing, so what he does is to ask for her help whenever he’s picking a cloth or dressing up. I must admit I learnt a lot from her also. Sometimes the image you see in the mirror isn’t always how we really look! To you it might look good but to others it might look terrible.  I know everyone has got their own style but it doesn’t hurt to ask someone to take a look at what you wearing and give you their opinion.

You want a wardrobe that look great on you, but don’t overdo it. Don’t wear more than three pieces of jewelry or more than three colors. Well I can’t say this can work for everyone because sometimes what I see out there makes me realize that some people are very crazy and very flashy when it comes to fashion. But just remember this “the way you dress is the way you are addressed”.
