Are You Motivated Or Inspired?

I always like to make us understand before I explain in details, that’s why am giving us the definitions.

What is motivation?
Motivation is a drive that encourages action or feeling. To motivate means to encourage and inspire. Motivation can also mean igniting the spark for action. Motivation is a driving force in our life. It comes from a desire to succeed.

What is inspiration?
Inspiration is the situation of the mind, feelings and to do something beyond a personal usual ability. Inspiration fills you with the ability or the urge to do something. It is also a thought with creative power and also fills of spirit that leads to outstanding achievement.

People often ask me if I can motivate others. The answer is no, I cannot. People motivate themselves. What I can do, however is inspire them to motivate themselves. Just like shiv khera the author of “You Can Win” he defined inspiration as a thought; motivation as an action.
Now in other to inspire people to motivate themselves we need to understand their need and wants.

Let me share a story- there were two brothers, who lived in Toronto.  One was a drug addict and drunk who frequently beat up his family. The other was a very successful businessman who was repeated in society and had a wonderful family. How could two brothers raised by the same parents, brought up in the same environment, be so different?

The first was asked what makes you do what you do? You are a drug addict, a drunk and you beat up your family. What motivates you? He answered, my father. My father was a drug addict, a drunk and he beats his family. What do you expect me to do? That is what I am.

The second was asked how come you are doing everything right. What is your source of motivation? And guess what he said? My father. When I was a little boy, I used to see my father drunk and doing all the wrong things. I made up my mind that, that is not what I wanted to be.
Both brothers derived their motivation from the same source, but one was using it positively and the other negatively. Negative motivation brings the desire to take the easier way which ends up being the tougher way. Both brothers got different inspiration from the same source, but allowed their minds to use it in a different way.

So are you motivated or inspired? The truth is you cannot be motivated without being inspired. Inspiration is a thought, and motivation an action. Most people are inspired but refuse to be motivated by their inspiration. You are a product of what you build yourself with. Be careful of what you listen to, where you go, who your friends are, what you read, what you watch and the way you think. Because it will reflect in your life negatively or positively.

SELF-MOTIVATED

Being self-motivated means you have to be sharp and smart enough not to be manipulated and to be open to positive learning. But there are ways you can develop a very sharp and great mindset to be self-motivated. Here we go!
To be self-motivated you need to change the way you think. Always think positive and be positive. Don’t think negative thoughts and when you find yourself thinking negatively, stop it immediately. Think about something else.

If you have goal that you want to accomplish in life, you need to stay motivated towards your goals. Sometimes you will need help to get going in life, like getting some words of inspirations from few people to stay motivated. You can also turn to your mentors, friends and family. Tell them what you hope to accomplish and what you are struggling with. They can offer you advice on how to go about it but be very careful some people are dream killers.

But also know that whatever inspiration you get from them can only last for a while, the key is to always stay strong and very positive to be able to carry on even when nobody is there to inspire you. You need to develop the mindset of your own to stay positive and be self-motivated to be able reach your goals. So that’s why you need to be mentally strong and for you to be mentally strong, you need to have a positive mind set.

5 WAYS TO STAY MOTIVATED TOWARDS YOUR GOALS.

1 MAKES A LIST OF YOUR GOALS
It’s a very busy and disturbing world; it’s very easy for us to always get carried away. So get a paper, pen and write down your goals, its helps.

2 VISUALIZE YOUR GOALS
After writing your goals down, don’t just relax and wait for a miracle. What I do every morning when I wake up is to always go through my goals and mediate on them. Its helps me stay focus and positive.

3 HAVE A STRATEGY
I make sure I try to do the things that get me closer to my goals. I create a strategy that keeps me on track, to avoid any distraction. When you try a strategy and it doesn’t work don’t call it a failure call it an experiment. Try a new strategy again. Thomas Edison was asked why he kept trying when he kept failing; he said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. Always try one more time.

4 ALWAYS STAY POSITIVE
I have said the word “POSITIVE” so many times. But the truth is that without it we won’t last long with in our quest to achieve our goals. Times will come when things will not work the way you planned and those goals will seem impossible to accomplish. The key to overcoming such times is to always stay positive.  Do you know that almost the things that were deem impossible is now possible? Why? Because there were certain men\women who refused to get up and settle for less instead they kept going on even when it looked hopeless. That’s the power of positivity and self-motivation.

5 READING\LISTENING
Well I know you will be like what has that got to do with my goals. It may not work for you because I know that most of us are very lazy when it comes to reading books. Reading is a very strong instrument to achieving our goals. When you read books it makes get more ideas and it’s enlighten you more about your goals. The same goes for listening as I mentioned earlier you can talk to people who are ready at the top to give you advice on your how to also go about your goals.
